“I’ve been able to paint and draw since I was knee high”
As long as I can remember from the early seventies I’ve almost taken for granted the fact that making marks with paint or pencil came easily and actually resembled whatever it was I was observing.
Of all my studies throughout my school years art lessons where the ones that i Looked forward to, even enjoying the company of the art class tutors all of which where massively encouraging.
This led to an art college education in Lancashire where horizons where broadened and techniques were honed.
This experience has remained with me ever since. Enjoying painting has led to many wildlife commissions as well as portraits and landscapes. I have also exhibited locally and always accepted in the Ferens Art gallery and East Riding open exhibitions.
I also had the privilege of having a residency at Spurn Point through 2013. Having the lighthouse as my studio was a dream come true and I was able to make many drawings and paintings from this amazing landmark. Many thanks to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust for opportunity.

I enjoy working in many mediums but my favourites are watercolour, charcoal, pencil and acrylic. All of which I try to create the best use of each medium and exploit the delicacies that each one offers.

My studio is based in the beautiful market town of Beverley in East Yorkshire. As well as creating my own artwork I encourage many others in my daily art classes and enjoy the fruits of seeing many artists flourish. When creating my own work I skip between watercolour landscapes and painting portraits on canvas. Recent sitters have included Alan Johnson MP, Premier football club owner Assem Allam and Nancy Birtwhistle, British Bake Off champ.
